Sergio Félix Galilea Ocón is a Chilean engineer, academic and politician and former member of the Party for Democracy (PPD). With a vast experience in the public sector, he stood out as Minister of State under President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle and as Undersecretary of the governments of Frei himself and Michelle Bachelet. He was also mayor of the Metropolitan Region of Santiago and Los Lagos. He studied at the San Francisco Javier School in Puerto Montt. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Chile with a degree in industrial engineering and later, in 1971, he completed a master's degree in Urban and Rural Planning at the Pontifical Catholic University. A Christian Democrat in his youth, he decided to opt for the MAPU when the Falangist schism occurred and still maintains close ties with former Mapuists, such as Jaime Estévez, Carlos Montes and Enrique Correa.
